Rental Rules for High Horse Lodge:
     Check In: 4 pm Eastern, unless prior arrangements 
       are made. We are happy to arrange early arrival, 
       provided we have time to do our maintenance.  

       Check out: 11 am Eastern. If you have special request for 
       checking in or out, call in advance and we will try to
       accommodate you at no charge.

       How to leave the lodge: Leave it as you found it, with the  
       exceptions of linens. You can leave them on the 
       beds. Leave bath linens on the tile bath floor. 
       Don't bother to put linens into the washer. Don't bother to 
       remake the fire. It is fine to leave clean dishes in the
       dish washer. Put trash into the can beneath the porch. 
       Lock the house and leave the key on the coffee table.

       Garbage: Place kitchen garbage into bag and place in
       garbage can below house. If you are staying a week, we 
       can collect the trash on Wednesday evening for
       Thursday pick up.         

       Pets: No pets is the general rule.

      Camp fires, etc. - If you have see forest fires up here as 
      we have, you would understand "NO WAY!"

       Smoking: No smoking inside. No smoking outside due to
       forest fire danger.

       Problems: Your hosts are available to help you with  
       problems such as dead car battery, broken horse tack, 
       directions to activities, restaurant reservations, resources.
      Just call.

Provisions: The kitchen is fully stocked with the tools
       you need for preparation of gourmet fare: utensils, 
       cookware, food processor, blender, toaster, coffee pots,
       waffle maker, cutting boards, etc. Tableware is for eight. 
      
       The pantry and refrigerator are stocked with items to save
       you money and shopping time: salt and pepper and   
       seasonings, refrigerator garlic, mayonnaise, catsup,
       mustard, vinegar, salad dressings, cooking oil, sugar,
       flour, baking soda, baking powder, butter. In addition you
       will find dishwasher and hand soaps, paper towels, cloth
       and paper napkins, aluminum foil, baggies, and trash bags.
       Soap and toilet paper are in the baths. 
  
       In spring and summer, you will find fresh eggs from the 
       farm, as well as produce from the garden. Hens vacation
       from September to April. 
 
       High Horse will have arrangements of fresh flowers in 
       season. 

       First Aid kit with ibuprofin, band aids, topical ointments, 
       etc., are in a box at the top of the pantry.

       Emergency kit for power outages is in the top of the
       pantry: kerosine lamp, candles, manual telephone, 
       matches.

Beer/Wine/Liquor: See general services below. Beer 
       and wine is available locally, but liquor is hard to come
       by in most surrounding counties. Come prepared. 

Equipment:
       Fire Place: Newspaper and lighter are in the pantry on a 
       top shelf. Extra fire wood is on the porch. If you use that
       up, you can find more in the wood shed by the pump
       house, half way down the drive. 

       Don't overload the fire box with wood. Keep the net 
       curtains closed. Don't leave the house with a fire burning.

       Open the damper before starting fire. Lever is on the top
       of the fire box, center. Open is to the right. Closed to the 
       left. You have to push and click the lever to change 
       positions. Close the damper when the fire is out.

       Open the air intake before starting fire. Lever is on the
       left side of the fire bos, about half way down. Open is 
       down. Closed is up. Close the air intake when the fire
       is out. 

       TV - The downstairs TV is turned on with the Viore 
       control. It takes about 15 secons to come on after you
       punch the "on" button. Then go to Dish controller and 
       press "select". Volume is controlled with Viore 
       controller.

       WiFi: You can plug your computer directly into the yellow
       ethernet cable behind the book case under the stairs, or
       you can  log onto the wireless connection.
       On your computer, click the overlapping computer icon on
       the bottom right of the screen. Then click on "Connect
       to network". When you see the Win 3 numbers, click 
       on those numbers to connect. Insert the number -
       939605146 - You can find this number in the center of the
       bar code on the back of the wireless router.

General Services
    Banks: Closest ATM is in Mentone at the Citizen's Bank and
       at the Mentone Market. There are also ATMs at the beer 
       stores on Hwy. 117 near State Line Road. 
       For other banking problems, we can introduce you to 
       Customer Service at United Community Bank in Summer-
       ville. 

    Beer, wine and spirits: Be forewarned, Mentone is
  dry.
 
       Beer and wine are legal in Walker. Chatooga, Dade, and
       Catoosa Counties in Georgia, but not in most of DeKalb
       County, including Mentone. Best options from High Horse
       Lodge are:

       BJ # 1 and 2, now called Mountain Grocery maybe. Both
       located near the Al./Ga. state line on Hwy. 117 between
       Mentone, Al. and Cloudland, Ga. 
        
       Liquor - Ft. Payne has the nearest liquor store in the
       shopping center at the north Y (where you come into
       town. It is in the little strip mall on the left, past the
       blinking bank sign in the middle of Hwy. 11. The only other
       option is Chattanooga.
      
       Some Mentone restaurants allow you to brown bag wine, 
       and maybe other spirits. Call first. 

    Convenience Store: Mentone Market in Mentone can 
       provide most of your worldly needs: gas and diesel, 
       limited groceries including some meat and a few 
       vegetables, staples, and pizza. Tom and Christen have
       gussied up the store with wondrous bottle top collages,
       checker sets, as well as a wing for Joan Byrum's art. They
       open early for the biscuit crowd and are on duty 7 days a
       week.

    Dog and Cat Boarding: Summerville Vet Clinic, DeKalb Vet
       Clinic. 
    Fax and Copy Service: Little River Hardware

    Florist: well, not exactly, but your hostess sells cut 
       flowers to restaurants and hotels in Mentone, and can
       supply arrangements for your weddings or parties

    Library: Moon Lake Library is on Hwy. 117 on the east end 
       of town, and is open Thursdays and Saturdays. New 
       building is filled with books and tapes. 

    Massage Therapist: Kerry Breithaupt, Licensed Massage
       Therapist, can help if you hiked too far, or climbed too 
       high. 256 254 9802.

    Medical Help - Ft. Payne has four "doc in a box" locations.
       We have had good experiences with them in emergency.

    Movie theater - Ft. Payne, Gault Ave. on this end of town.
       You won't have to wait in line to see the new releases.
       Six or eight screens.

    Pharmacy: Morgan Drugs, Valley Head, just down the
